United Way Day of Caring at World in a Garden

The latest United Way Day of Caring was held at the World in a Garden project site in Kerrisdale, Vancouver, where volunteers spent the day weeding, clearing and mulching - before being allowed to pick their own raspberries and black currents from the wonderful fresh produce on offer at the garden. The World in a Garden is a multicultural urban agriculture project that educates community and youth on the nutritional, cultural, social and environmental benefits of a just and local food system

New report shows access to home and community care for seniors has declined significantly

A new report funded in part by United Way shows that access to home and community care services for seniors in BC has declined significantly over the past decade. Seniors who cannot get home and community care are more likely to end up in hospital, leading to hospital overcrowding and long wait times for all British Columbians.
