Leadership Vancouver
UNITED WAY LEADERSHIP VANCOUVER September 2012 program cancelled.
We regret to announce that the United Way Leadership Vancouver September 2012 program has been cancelled. Although the program has enjoyed widespread support in the past, and this year again generated lots of interest from sponsors and volunteers, unfortunately we do not have the level of enrolment necessary to proceed.
United Way is grateful for the support of Leadership Vancouver alumni and our key sponsors and partners: our presenting sponsor Scotiabank, the Ismaili Council for BC and Royal Roads University.
We will keep our communities informed of any future decisions about United Way Leadership Vancouver.

How is this program different?
United Way Leadership Vancouver does more than focus on leadership skills and how to work well with others. It provides a window into the opportunities of where we live, work, raise our families, provide jobs, and create a vibrant quality of life. The curriculum and experiences challenge us to think about – and act on – the contribution we can make as organizations or as individuals.
Exploring how to work within community is an integral part of the program, building on leadership theory and the latest thinking on team building, coaching, and collaboration. Participants will examine the concepts of civic engagement and corporate social responsibility, while learning how to lead change and bring together multiple points of view into effective action.
Engaging in real-time community challenges is an essential part of the program. Here, United Way of the Lower Mainland brings its eight decades of experience and commitment to social leadership to the fore. By mobilizing people from all walks of life, we strengthen our community’s capacity to act on local needs.
What skills will I gain?
With support from United Way Leadership Vancouver program facilitators Beth Page and Shauna Fenwick, participants will gain a solid foundation in leadership, as well as current knowledge of issues, challenges and opportunities in the region.
United Way Leadership Vancouver is open to up to 40 participants – an intentional mix of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experiential learning and structured dialogue are blended with training in essential skills and hands-on involvement.
The curriculum addresses the needs of candidates from all sectors. Click here for an overview of the curriculum.
