Technology the key to longer and better lives

Tom Carney, coordinator of the Lionsview Seniors' Planning Society and the United Way funded North Shore Seniors Planning Table, says seniors who remain in their own home as they age have four things in common. They eat right, they exercise, they stay socially connected and they remain mentally alert.

The reason that most people have to leave their homes is because they have a deficit in one or more of these areas.

He has a fifth element to add to this list. Carney thinks that technology will absolutely transform seniors' care in the next decade. His belief is that seniors who embrace technology are much more likely to live longer and better than those who don't.
