United Way funds many non-profits agencies that deliver hands-on programs to children and seniors across the Lower Mainland.
If you are interested in volunteering to support the prevention of child poverty, bullying or seniors isolation, here are some ways to find a role that is right for you.
Search www.govolunteer.ca. This is the best website in the Lower Mainland for anyone seeking volunteer opportunities and it is partially funded by United Way. Search for role type and by city, foor example, seniors care, Surrey.
If you are looking for more help to find the right match, United Way funds several volunteer centers that are dedicated to helping match people with the right volunteer opportunity:
Community Volunteer Connections (serving Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, Anmore and Belcarra)
Options Community Services (serving Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley)
Call BC 211, a great number to call (simply dial 211) to find opportunities and social services in your area
